I just watched Brokeback Mountain and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little shaken up. It kinda makes me wish I knew what happened in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but apparently halfway through I discovered that the disc wasn’t exactly spotless. Anyway, I was disgusted in the beginning when 28 minutes into the movie the guys lost control in the tent and engaged in butt sex. I have drawn some conclusions though like craving constant butt sex is most definitely a sin.  I liked how thy never even said gay or homo or anything but once it was referred to as “a goddamn bitch of an unsatisfactory situation.” 

I can’t help but wonder if its somehow more acceptable to be gay if you’re a cowboy. I mean how gay can you be? They still can do everything a straight man can do, right? Hunt and fish and make shelter. If you can ride a bull you  should be allowed to stick your dick wherever you want. I have to wonder about the stereotype that gays meet in forest preserves. I do really like that. Who doesn’t like to copulate in the great outdoors?  But, like Jack, “I can’t make it on a couple of high altitude fucks once a year.”

The film made me really appreciate that I don’t have to worry about hiding my sexuality. That sounds so exhausting and impossible.  Yet I can’t decide if feelings like there’s should be suppressed or not. Its a shame either way.  Regardless, I would stay married to Heath Ledger even if he did have a boyfriend for a few weeks a year.
